Vyto Kab, CEO of Persante Health Care, brings over two decades of leadership experience in healthcare services with a specialized focus on sleep diagnostics and care management. Under his direction, Persante has grown into the nation’s largest provider of sleep management services, delivering more than 125,000 sleep studies annually across a network of 75+ hospitals in 14 states. With AASM accreditation and a steadfast commitment to clinical excellence, Persante delivers both in-lab and home-based diagnostic solutions—bridging care gaps and scaling personalized interventions across the continuum.

We sat down with Vyto to explore the evolution of sleep medicine, the shifting public perception of sleep health, and what’s next for the industry.

How did you first become involved in sleep medicine?

My roots in the sleep industry began at the foundational level—gaining firsthand insight into the impact of sleep disorders on daily life while performing therapy setups in patients’ homes. That hands-on experience shaped my appreciation for the complexity of sleep care. It led to the founding of SleepTech, LLC, a company we ultimately sold to a publicly traded European healthcare group. At the time—more than two decades ago—sleep medicine was largely misunderstood and undervalued within broader healthcare.

A defining moment came when we conducted a landmark study with over 300 NFL players, uncovering a surprising prevalence of sleep apnea among young, elite athletes. The results, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, garnered national media attention. At that time, sleep disorders were still perceived as issues that only affected older or chronically ill populations. This study helped shift that narrative permanently.

What did that research reveal about sleep apnea and professional athletes?

It was groundbreaking and culturally significant. The idea that world-class athletes—individuals at the peak of physical health—were living with undiagnosed sleep apnea challenged public assumptions. That revelation raised awareness across both the clinical community and the general public.

Today, sleep is part of the mainstream health conversation. Athletes like LeBron James and Tom Brady openly credit quality sleep as foundational to performance and recovery. That type of visibility would have been unthinkable 20 years ago.

How has awareness of sleep disorders evolved since then?

The evolution has been extraordinary. Sleep health has gone from a fringe concern to a core component of wellness, with media, technology, and medicine all contributing to this shift. The stigma around sleep disorders has all but disappeared—everyone knows someone using a CPAP or wearable device, and patients now speak openly about their experience.

We’ve seen the market respond with expanded options: wearable sleep trackers like Oura Ring, Apple Watch, and Samsung Watch; implantable devices like Inspire; dental devices; and even pharmaceutical advancements such as Eli Lilly’s Zepbound—all of which improve accessibility and awareness.

What excites me most is the shift from reactive diagnostics to proactive screening. Persante is deeply committed to identifying at-risk patients earlier—across hospital inpatients, primary care, and specialty practices—so that sleep disorders can be diagnosed and treated before they exacerbate comorbid conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or cognitive decline.

What sets Persante apart in today’s sleep services landscape?

The sleep market is undergoing a rapid transformation, attracting attention from all corners of healthcare. Among the many approaches gaining traction is the “quick test” model—often compared to a pregnancy test—delivering immediate results with minimal context. While these tools may increase awareness, they represent only a fraction of the solution. At Persante, we are not in the business of shortcuts—we are in the business of outcomes.

Persante delivers comprehensive, end-to-end sleep diagnostic and management solutions that go far beyond detection. From clinical staffing and test scoring to therapy coordination and direct patient engagement, we provide a fully integrated model that meets patients, physicians, and hospital systems exactly where they are. We combine scale with personalization—enabling delivery across large health systems while still tailoring care to the individual.

What differentiates Persante is our unwavering commitment to service, patient advocacy, and clinical excellence. Our model is built on People, Processes, and Technology—creating a connected ecosystem that supports every step of the patient journey. We’re leveraging AI-driven analytics, advanced program management tools, and telehealth access to resolve care gaps, streamline treatment, and enhance outcomes. This includes expanding 24/7 diagnostic access and addressing testing capacity challenges with precision and agility.

We are also proactively preparing for the 2027 CPT code changes by evolving our diagnostic framework to encompass a broader range of conditions—including central sleep apnea and hypoventilation syndromes. As part of this effort, Persante is deploying full in-home polysomnography capabilities to ensure even complex cases are accurately diagnosed and managed remotely.

Importantly, we recognize that fast results can miss critical warning signs—particularly those tied to cardiology, diabetes, and other comorbidities. That’s why we developed the Patient Compass and Path Forward Advocacy Programs: pairing advanced diagnostics with human-led care navigation to ensure every patient receives the attention, expertise, and follow-through they deserve.

We’re not chasing trends—we’re setting the standard. Persante is redefining what meaningful sleep care looks like by staying patient-centric, data-informed, and clinically integrated. This is the future of sleep medicine—and we’re leading it.

What are the biggest changes you see coming for sleep disorders and the healthcare industry?

Sleep is no longer just a specialty—it’s a pillar of population health. Our mission is to integrate that pillar seamlessly into healthcare delivery systems nationwide. As we look ahead, we’re not just keeping pace with innovation—we’re helping define it.

The market is massive and growing—but it remains highly fragmented. That fragmentation leads to inconsistency in care delivery, patient engagement, and reimbursement. Persante is addressing this head-on by aligning technology, clinical excellence, and operational scale to drive uniformity and outcomes across the board.

Sleep medicine is moving beyond traditional boundaries. Emerging AI tools, real-time data integration, and predictive analytics are redefining how we identify, manage, and support patients. However, care doesn’t stop at diagnosis. Sustained success comes from continuous monitoring, personalized treatment, and long-term coordination—a full ecosystem of care.

This is the model Persante is building. One patient traveling seamlessly through one steady course of ongoing care, considering all variables and removing friction to grant visibility into the whole patient.

Currently, I am working with the talented Persante leadership team to enhance our offerings to add key service lines that will allow underserved or non-existent sleep programs access to boarded sleep physicians and other needed specialties to provide consultation and interpretation preceding or resulting from other comorbid conditions.

The future of healthcare demands innovation, and I’m thrilled to be partnering with a leading technology group to introduce a transformative new platform launching later this year. This next-generation, cloud-based solution is purpose-built for medical labs and engineered with a patient-centric architecture that drives operational efficiency, long-term scalability, and future-proof performance.

As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, this platform is designed to evolve with it—delivering intelligent, real-time updates that align with industry changes, support seamless workflows, and drive measurable improvements in clinical and operational outcomes. It’s not just built for today—it’s built to keep you ahead tomorrow.
