🌾 Fiber Fights Cancer: A large review found that higher dietary fiber intake is associated with a 22% lower risk of developing cancer and a 17% reduction in cancer-related mortality. It’s especially protective against gastrointestinal (−32%), gynecological (−21%), and breast cancer (−8%) (read more here).
🧬 EAA’s Reduce Inflammation: Just 4g/day of essential amino acids (EAAs) reduced IL-6 levels (a key inflammatory marker) by 34% in adults with cystic fibrosis, while also improving self-rated physical health (study here).
🧼 Microplastics in Gum? Turns out, most store-bought gums release microplastics into your saliva, according to a recent study. If you see “gum base” on the label, it’s best to skip it and find a cleaner chew (study here).
💥 Cursing for Gains: New research shows swearing may enhance workout performance by boosting disinhibition, confidence, and pain tolerance (full study here).
🏋️♂️ Creatine Responders vs. Non-Responders: Genetics matter in terms of creatine’s effects. Variants in genes like ACTN3, AMPD1, and CKM determine whether creatine helps you build more muscle (discover more here). Women may benefit less due to naturally higher baseline stores.
💊 Best Creatine Form? A recent study confirms that creatine monohydrate is still king, while other forms offer no additional benefits (study here). I personally use 5g of Kion creatine monohydrate.
